Directorate
The Directorate is responsible for the direction of the CMCC and the management of all its
activities, resources and outputs. The Directorate comprises: Office of the President and Chief Executive
Officer, Corporate Secretariat and Strategic Planning, Audit and Evaluation and Office of the Chief
Operating Officer.
Research and Collections Branch
This Branch is to contribute to the understanding of Canadian historical and cultural experience.
It undertakes research programs designed to add to the collections of the Museum. Researchers curate
exhibitions, publish both scholarly texts and articles for the general public, and provide expertise.
The Branch also ensures the care and maintenances of the collections, as well as making artefacts, archives,
photographs and information accessible both to internal and external users. The Branch comprises: Ethnology
and Cultural Studies, Archaeology and History, Aboriginal Training Program, Collections Management and
Planning, and Library, Archives and Documentation Services, and manages the Aboriginal Training Program
and the Research Fellowship Program.
Public Affairs and Publishing Branch
This Branch is responsible for the CMCC's public image, media and public relations, promotional
activities and material, advertising, internal communications, official ceremonial events, liaison between
the CMCC, government and the community at large, and publishing. This Branch comprises: Special Events,
Corporate Communications, Media Relations, and Publishing.
Exhibitions and Programs Branch
This Branch plans, interprets, develops, manages and evaluates a balanced program of permanent,
temporary and travelling exhibitions, educational and public programs (live interpretation, special
events, school programs, festivals, lectures, demonstrations, etc) in support of the CMCC's purpose
and objectives. The Branch comprises: Exhibitions, Design, Interpretation, Audiovisual and Photographic
Services, Programs, Canadian Children's Museum and Canadian Postal Museum.
Museum Services Branch
This Branch is responsible for the provision of corporate services. The Branch comprises: Finance
and Administration, Facilities Management and Security Services, and Marketing Business Operations and
Client Services.
Human Resources Branch
The Branch is responsible for providing corporate services. This Branch comprises: Labour Relation
and Compensation, Health and Safety, Staffing, Classification, Policies and Programs, Corporate Training
and Development, Corporate Volunteer Services, and Pension and Benefits.
Development Branch
This Branch is responsible for developing sustaining partnerships, locally and nationally and
carry out fundraising initiatives to support the Corporation in achieving its mandate to preserve and
promote Canada's unique and diverse culture. This Branch comprises: Fundraising, Sponsorship and Membership
Program.
Canadian War Museum (CWM)
The CWM is an affiliate of the CMC. The CWM is Canada's national museum of military history.
It has a threefold mandate: to educate, to preserve and to remember.
The CWM comprises: Office of the Director General, Historical Research and Exhibition Development, Interpretation and Programs and Office of Collections Management and Planning.
